# Half-Diminished: Locrian

### Jazz Tunes that use the Locrian Mode

Locrian Mode is not frequently used as a basis for the harmony or melody in Western Music, it is typically just used over half diminished chords (e.g. $$C^-7\flat5$$). Tunes rarely vamp this type of chord and scale, it's usually used over the two chord of a minor two-five-one. With that said, the tune "[Inner Urge](/learn-tunes/modal-tunes-2.md)" does have four bars of F# Locrian at the top of the head and the tune "[Gloria's Step](/learn-tunes/modal-tunes-2.md)" uses Locrian modes in the second half of the head.
